BIRD was invited by Flip to pitch against Cisco’s longtime incumbent agency. Our approach was to produce an emotionally evocative narrative around the ability of consumers to create videos with complete spontaneity.
To convey this message, we implemented an unconventional media strategy of reach and frequency through unique 10 and 15 second TV spots—created entirely by users—and massive urban out of home takeovers. We also balanced the campaign with a mixture of celebrities and everyday users. The result was billions of consumer impressions, soaring brand awareness, with camera sales more than doubling. Flip quickly becoming a household name synonymous with pocket-video cameras. BIRD had succeeded in democratizing video.
